Jake Whisenant, age 30, died on Aug. 3, according to the Tulare County Sheriff's Office Coroner Division.

Authorities haven't disclosed the circumstances of his death - but it was listed as an accident.

His death was announced by Bailee Moore, who described Whisenant as her "lifelong friend and confidant."

Moore wrote that her heart was "impossibly heavy" as she shared the news.

"I will look for you in every life, my brother. Now go rest high up on that mountain."

Fox News Digital reached out to the Tulare County Sheriff's Office for additional comment.

At the time, Whisenant described it as a "truly magical day that I'll never forget."

"We both tapped into a flow state, fully committed to our plan, and most importantly had an absolute blast on our favorite rock," he said.

"My heart is broken with you. Jake was such a light in this world," one person wrote.

"Jake was such a kind and genuine human, and he will always hold a special place in my heart," another said.

"Preparedness and self-reliance are essential," the NPS's website says.

"Make sure to plan for all potential hazards before your trip."

Officials recommend carrying appropriate equipment and clothing, knowing personal physical limitations and being prepared to turn around if conditions become unsafe.
