New York City’s tourism industry is poised to end 2024 with an impressive $79 billion economic impact, including $51 billion in direct spending across the five boroughs, according to the latest report from New York City Tourism + Conventions.
Additionally, visitor spending generated $6.8 billion in tax revenue, saving the average NYC household approximately $2,000 in 2024. Small and minority-owned businesses across the boroughs have also benefited significantly from the influx of travelers.
China also showed recovery, contributing over 609,000 visitors. Domestic overnight stays have surpassed day-trip visits, further driving economic contributions.
Broadway attendance is expected to reach 12.5 million by the end of the year, with $1.5 billion in estimated grosses, reflecting steady recovery in the arts and culture sector.
